What does salvage title mean?

A salvage title generally means that an insurance company or authority reported the vehicle as significantly damaged or economically uneconomical to repair. A rebuilt title usually means the vehicle was repaired and later approved for road use under state rules.

Rules vary by state. A title brand can affect resale value, insurance, financing and export decisions.

Reminder: A VIN check is a research tool. Always verify title documents, inspect the vehicle and use secure payment practices.
